Work in Progress
A collection of work made in response to the destruction of steel industry in the North of England - with a focus on Workington, Cumbria - drawing on existing landscape along with archival photographs as reference.
After the closure of the majority of Workington Steel Works in the 1980s, the effects on both town and surrounding landscape are still profoundly palpable. These works explore the re-appropriation of the post-industrial landscape - where the slag banks become quarries and walking routes and the shore is littered with fragments of blast furnace and bright orange rock pools.
